Government

Oxford Translation provides written translation of government documents from the languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina into a foreign language and vice versa. What differentiates us from a number of other translators is our recognition of complexity and ambiguity of the specific terminology and given political situation. We are aware of the problems which may arise from incorrect translation or inappropriate usage of certain terms and, thus we have created an obligatory system for translation of government document, warranting the credibility of translation. All ten steps, mentioned under translation, are maintained in the translation of government documents.

Upon discussing your specific needs and demands and evaluating the subject, the Task Manager will select a team of linguists and technical experts most appropriate for your specific project (namely, experts in law, politics, economics, etc). The role of Task Manager is to monitor the project to its completion, ensuring the timetable and quality standards set with the client, thus in case of any problems or changes, he/she will liaise between you and the engaged team. A minimum of three persons are assigned to each project: one translator, one native language editor and one technical expert.

In case of a comprehensive project requiring the engagement of several translators, a glossary of terminology specific for your project, abbreviations and acronyms as well as a style manual are prepared in the inception phase of the project and sent to the client for reviewing and approval. Once approved, all translators are required to use the same linguistic solutions, thereby harmonising their performance through the consistent use of terminology and writing style.

One of the features of our work is a regular utilisation of CAT (Computer Aided Translation) and TM (Translation Memory) tools to streamline the translation process and enhance consistency. This is critical when delivering large projects that are done by a team of translators, editors and technical advisors. Our staff has at their disposal a huge, ever-growing database of useful web-sites, as well as a library containing editions of documents international and national political bodies.

The final step in completing your project is the final proofreading and reviewing of entire document. That action combines efforts of all translators, editors and technical experts. Therefore, the engagement of technical experts in final reviewing will exclude any possibility of misapplication of misinterpretation of specific terminology which could lead to drawing the wrong conclusions, wasting hours of discussions or to entail even more grave consequence.

We translate the following:
  • Government decisions
  • Decrees
  • Parliament decisions
  • Transcripts of sessions of Parliament and government bodies
  • Laws
  • Rules and regulations
  • Correspondence
  • Press releases
  • International bodies’ decisions and reports
  • Arbitration documents
  • Websites

Another vital element of our success is the confidentiality all our translators are committed to. By virtue of our contract with all the staff, the disclosure of any information pertaining to the engagement with our clients would entail legal consequences.
